Daily Announcements

As Mrs. Eyre travels across the US in her model T, we will be keeping you posted on her location and adding interesting facts and web sites that you can visit to follow along her journey.
Mrs. Eyre stopped in Olathe, Kansas (Olathe is the Shawnee word for beautiful). Olathe has two major lakes and they enjoy hot-air balloons, just like here in Battle Creek! Check out www.olatheks.org to discover more.
From there the Eyre family traveled 166 miles to Abilene, Kansas; home of our 34th president, Dwight D. Eisenhower. It was hot, 106-110 degrees, and Model T's don't have air conditioning! Please visit www.abileneks.com to find out what they may have seen.
After spending the night, they got back in their Model T and ventured on to Goodland, Kansas. They only travel between 100-200 miles a day. Nothing like the kind of time we can make in our cars today. How fast do you think a Model T goes? Maybe Mrs. Eyre can fill us in on her next update.
From there they drove on to Fort Collins, Colorado. Ft. Collins in nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. How do you think they will travel over the Rocky's? Do you think there is still snow on the top? Ft. Collins in at 5,000 feet above sea level. How many feet is Battle Creek above sea level? Come back soon to find out.
They spent two days in Fort Collins before continuing on to Rawlins, Wyoming; named in 1886 after General John A. Rawlins, who was the Chief of Staff for the Army at the time. Please Google these towns or follow the links to discover more of Mrs. Eyre's whirlwind trip across America. Where will they spend July 4th? Come back daily to check our their progress!

There is a new Principal's Message. Please be sure to visit the Principal's Message under the building.

What is MrS. Eyre doing during her summer break?

I am travelling across the country with Model Ts. Does anyone know what a model T is? It is a car built by the Ford car company between 1908-1927. The cars started in White Plains, New York on June 14 and will end in Seattle, Washington on July 10. I joined the group with my family in Olathe, Kansas on June 25. We are currently in Ft. Collins, Colorado. I will post some photos and more interesting facts as the trip continues. Check out http://oceantoocean.ning.com/, www.modelt.org, http://www.sshotwell.com/gallery.htm to view photos and video from the trip.
